According to the statistics of the National Bureau of Statistics, the beginning of the year was great for hoteliers and caterers in Nis. In January, the number of tourists increased by 39% and in February by 23%, compared to the same period in 2019. Unfortunately, the epidemic has corrupted plans for further growth, in this ,as well as in many sectors of the economy.
In these circumstances, the Tourism Organisation of Nis is working on new plans for the period after the end of the state of emergency. A new strategy has been launched to promote the tourist offer of the city and its surroundings. We intensified the publication of informative and educational texts with photographs on our website and social networks, to remind the citizens of Nis and Serbia about the cultural and historical heritage of the city and the surrounding area, as well on interesting historical events. We think that with knowledge, our city and country will be better promoted. We are creating new walking tours around the city and the surrounding area for citizens, guests and tourists, so that when the circumstances for walking and visiting museums are going to be created, they can spend unforgettable moments in Niš and in the southeastern parts of Serbia. We innovate publications – brochures about Nis, Niska Banja; we are preparing a gastronomic guide of the city and the wine routes of the southeastern Serbia; We are translating promotional texts into six languages (English,Bulgarian, Greek, French, Russian and German). We do our best, because when we defeat this „invisible enemy“, we have the task to compensate the economic losts to our hoteliers, caterers and citizens of Nis, by promoting our city, at home and abroad.
